Last update: April 3, 2008 - 5:24 PM Northwest Airlines announced today that it will cut its domestic flight schedule by 5 percent this fall in response to high fuel prices.
The Eagan-based carrier plans to take 15 to 20 airplanes out of service, beginning with two old DC-9s in June.
The carrier is not planning any layoffs but hopes to cut jobs through attrition.
In a written statement, Northwest CEO Doug Steenland said, "While we need to reduce costs in this difficult environment, we will not be going back to our employees for pay cuts." (read more)
